Many of my clients start therapy feeling lonely and lost. I am here to support you through challenging times.
Life can be challenging and confusing, especially in times of change or loss. Having a space to talk openly and honestly with someone who is independent and neutral can help you to make sense of it all. I offer a place where you can explore your life, who you are, your environment and others around you. I offer nurturing and respectful support to help you through the difficult parts and give you the opportunity to express how you feel. I believe that you are a unique individual and counselling can give you an opportunity to develop self awareness and a place where the possibility of change and healing can occur. This safe and non judgemental space can allow you to find your own voice where you can gain insight and understanding of your issues. Self discovery can help you to make clearer choices in your life and bring to light long-held beliefs that limit your potential. I believe that everyone has the capacity to change and reach their full potential.
I am an integrative psychotherapeutic counsellor based in my practice in central Norwich, Norfolk. I will offer you a safe, confidential, and non-judgemental place to talk about your life and anything that may be difficult, painful or confusing. My training enables me to bring together a variety of therapeutic approaches with a wide range of tools and skills. This allows me to work with a range of difficulties and issues you might be facing. Counselling allows you to talk with someone who will listen, be fully present and to help you work through your difficulties. You are the focus of my counselling work, so I will work in a way that is suited to your individual needs and goals and at your own pace. Counselling will enable you to develop coping strategies, overcome emotional challenges, achieve improved well-being and become empowered to make important life choices.
Early in my professional career I trained as a nurse and I am a nursing sister in a hospital where I continue to work on a part time basis. It has been a passion of mine for over 20 years. I came to train as a counsellor as I believe my personal experience of counselling offered me change and valuable insight through difficult times in my life. It also helped me to understand what it is like to be a client and the process of counselling itself.
I am a fully qualified Integrative counsellor and have been awarded a BSc (hons) in Integrative counselling at Middlesex University. I value on-going education as part of my continuing professional and personal development. In addition to my training and experience I hope my friendly personality will put you at ease during our sessions. Many are stuck and longing for change and it is my goal to help you to move forward in your life. I have found that therapy can empower a person to influence their life in ways they desire.
Prior to establishing my own private practice, I have worked for various charities as a counsellor. I am a registered practitioner of the UKCP (UK Council for Psychotherapy) and abide by their ethical guidelines for good practice.
Counselling can provide the support you need to help you find your way towards a better life. Even if you’re feeling lost now, I can help guide you in making lasting, positive changes in your life.
My approach is relational and my focus is to offer you a place where you are heard, accepted for who you are and not judged. Being seen, heard and understood is vitally important to us and our emotional well being. I believe that the relationship between myself and my client is fundamental for therapy to be effective and I offer a genuine, down to earth and confidential space for you to explore your concerns or worries. Coping can sometimes become too difficult to do alone or its too hard to share our feelings with those close to us, and having a space to talk about and explore what is troubling you can be a deeply healing experience.
My aim is to provide you with an opportunity to explore your relationship with yourself and how you relate to others. The therapeutic process can be inspiring, fulfilling and challenging and give you with a deeper awareness of who you are and how you can become the person you want to be.
